These became the Class 365. Although specified as a dual-voltage unit, Class 365s have never operated with this capability since they were built with only one system of traction current pickup. Units 365501 to 365516, which worked briefly for Network SouthEast before the franchise was given to Connex South Eastern, were originally supplied only with DC shoe gear for use on the 750 V third-rail system[6] (with the exception of unit 365502, which ran briefly on the AC network during testing and commissioning and was the main reason for this unit being chosen as the one subleased from Connex South Eastern to WAGN to bolster unit availability in the aftermath of the Potters Bar Crash in 2002). Alongside the similarly-styled Kenworth W900, the 379 was an extended-hood conventional-cab truck marketed primarily to owner-operator drivers. Replacing the 359, the 379 would become the flagship of the Peterbilt model line. During its production, it would be joined by the more aerodynamic 377, 386, and 387. In 2007, the Peterbilt 379 was replaced by the Peterbilt 389, which is distinguished with newer-style headlights and an even longer hood. To commemorate the end of production in 2007, the last 1000 examples were designated as Legacy Class 379. The largest highway truck sold by Peterbilt at its launch, the 379 was produced in two configurations. The standard hood created a BBC (bumper to back of cab length) of 119 inches. To allow for larger engines and radiators, an extended hood configuration was available, which made for a 127-inch BBC. Although sharing the bare cab structure with the 359, the 379 was produced with a slightly larger windshield and horizontally-mounted windshield wipers. Throughout its production, the 379 was equipped with the most powerful versions of the engines offered in Class 8 on-highway vehicles. The turbodiesel engines included the Caterpillar C-11, C-12, C-13, C-15, C-16 and the 3406-(B,C,E,P and EWS), Cummins the "big cam" NTC, N-14, ISM, ISX, ISMe5, ISXe5, Signature 600, and Detroit Diesel 60 series and 90 series. Even as more aerodynamic models such as the T600 and succeeding versions have been introduced for fleet use, the stylish W900 remains in production due to its particular popularity with owner-operators. The W900 was a gradual introduction, retaining many features of its predecessors which also continued to be sold alongside it in the early 1960s. The engine sizes for the W900 range from 9 liters to 16 liters, and it accommodates up to a 625-horsepower engine. The W900 has front axles from 12,000 to 22,000 lb ratings, and rear axles from 23,000-lb single to 58,000-lb tandems. The "W" stands for "Worthington".[1] The W900 is still in production after over fifty years, although not much remains unaltered. The early 1960s W900 trucks are identifiable by their delicate external doorhandles, mounted just beneath the side windows. They also have larger ventilation windows in the doors and chromed grabhandles atop the radiator for tilting the hood. The W900's doors are called "bulkhead style" doors and along with bigger front windows and a fibreglass roof panel this is what sets them apart from the earlier Kenworth conventionals. The lower mounted "paddle-style" door latches arrived in 1972. In 1973 the hood emblem was changed for a simplified model with three rather than four red stripes. In February 1982 the design was switched to rectangular headlamps, bringing with it a change in name from W900A (which had been introduced in 1967) to W900B. The W900B also sits higher on the chassis than does its predecessor; in Mexico Kenmex continued to produce the W900A equipped with rectangular headlamps. In October 1987 the new W900S model arrived - this has the same BBC (bumper-to-back-of-cab) as the W900B but a sloped hood (hence the "S") for better visibility. Su carrocería fue construida con metal (se empleó acero en las carrocerías originales) y con fibra de vidrio (En países como Venezuela y Chile, las leyes locales requerían que los coches tuviesen un alto porcentaje de piezas locales, así que la fibra de vidrio estuvo presente en ambos países. Presentaba además frente a los coches originales en acero, la ventaja de no sufrir oxidación.). El Mini fue producido con motores gasolina de 850, 1000 y 1100 cc de cilindrada, además del Austin Mini Cooper de 1275 cc de cilindrada y doble carburador. Los Mini, como los MG 1300 Mark II ( carrocería BMC ADO 16) estaban equipados con suspensión hidráulica Moulton, que le daba suavidad al andar. Su tablero analógico estaba empotrado en panel de madera de caoba. Su centro de gravedad sumamente bajo lo hacía ideal para tomar curvas a elevada velocidad.
